The ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is looking for individuals who are confident, assertive, independent, and act with integrity. As a high performing Correctional Officer, you will set an example each day through positive and pro‑social role modeling, utilize dynamic security concepts by building rapport, observing, and supervising residents inside our correctional facilities. Dynamic security is designed to keep you, your coworkers, and the citizens of North Dakota safer, and together we will achieve the ND DOCR's vision of healthy and productive neighbors, a safe North Dakota.
Qualifications To qualify as a Correctional Officer, you need a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and the ability to read, write and speak English. Salary depends on experience. No experience? No problem! The ND DOCR will train you.
Preference will be given to applicants with at least two years of experience in corrections, security, law enforcement, military or at least two years of college totaling 60 credits.
Application Procedures All applications for open DOCR positions must be made via the Careers site. Paper submissions will not be accepted. Application materials must be received by 11:59 PM Central Standard Time (CST) on the closing date listed above.
Application materials must clearly explain how experience and education are related to the minimum qualifications and job duties. Applicants who are residents of ND and eligible to claim veteran's preference must upload a DD‑214. Claims for disabled veteran's preference must also include a current statement of disabled status from the Veteran's Affairs Office.
