Duties and Responsibilities
Laboratory work (40%) – conduct laboratory, greenhouse, and field work including making media, culturing fungi, extracting DNA, conducting PCR, planting seed, and collecting data.
Greenhouse work (30%) – perform greenhouse tasks related to plant research.
Field work – perform field tasks related to plant pathology research.
Position summary – conduct laboratory, greenhouse and field work including making media, culturing fungi, extracting DNA, conducting PCR, planting seed, and collecting data.
Job classification – Temporary Technical Paraprofessional.
FLSA status – Non‑Exempt.
FTE – 1.00.
Education and Experience Completed two years of high school. Some experience in field work and laboratory work.
Physical Demands Work outdoors in heat and lift up to 25 pounds.
Trust and Security Is this a Position of Trust? Yes. The position does not have operation, access, or control of financial resources, does not require a P‑Card, and no driving is required. The position does not have direct interaction or care of children under 18 or direct patient care. However, the position has security access (e.g., Public Safety, IT Security, Personnel Records, Patient Records, or access to chemicals and medications).
Background Investigation Policy Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a background investigation including a criminal background check demonstrating eligibility for employment with the University of Georgia; confirmation of credentials and employment history; and, if applicable, a satisfactory credit check.
