Material Handler (Transportation)
The Material Handler is responsible for moving, storing, and managing various materials for transformers. They play a key role in the supply chain and logistics, ensuring that products are available to the team when needed and that shipments are on time and meet quality standards. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role.
Responsibilities
Ensures orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product final distribution.
Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
Documents materials and records units delivered and location of units.
Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
Maintains material‑handling equipment by completing pre‑use inspections.
Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signals machine operators to move materials.
Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.
Receives and inspects incoming materials and products for quality, quantity, and accuracy of shipment.
Verifies inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigates discrepancies or adjusts errors.
Stores items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
Marks units with identification tags or other labeling equipment.
Handles documentation of work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
Maintains inventory transactions and performs cycle counts to ensure accuracy of stock levels.
Assists with inventory control and audits as needed.
Maintains safe, clean, and orderly workstation.
Other assigned duties as needed.
