Physical Requirements: Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff. Must be able to move about in a complex physical environment.
Shift: Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:30pm (40 hours per week). As an exempt position, may include evening and weekend hours per department need.
Job Summary The Social Worker Supervisor supports the Case Management Social Work Manager whose human resource span of control exceeds acceptable UKHC standards. He/She will provide supervision, coaching, mentoring and opportunities for growth to social work staff and assist in the day to day management of the social worker in service area(s). The Social Worker Supervisor assists with monitoring and approving payroll as needed; proving case consultation and supervision to case management social workers for difficult cases as needed; Participates in interviewing and selection process of new employees; Oversees the training, orienting, and mentoring of new social work staff; Ensures staff compliance with standard operating procedures and policies; Facilitates and/or participates in care conferences when needed; Provides consultation to the team on complex cases; establish and review staff training/education including new staff orientation; Serves as a resource to other professionals internally and externally by providing training and education regarding social services; and keeps Social Work Manager and Case Management Director informed of any issues involving staff.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities The ideal candidate will possess hospital based social work experience and have a strong understanding of NASW guidelines, related to patient relationships and care; have direct patient care experience; have exceptional communication skills (written and verbal); outstanding computer skills; experience in management preferred. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? Yes
Preferred Education/Experience A minimum of 3 years' experience providing social services in a medical setting preferred.
