Department Overview We are seeking a motivated research-based assistant to help with projects utilizing multiplex IHC (mIHC) imaging data. The successful applicant will learn and perform multiplex IHC staining, help with data organization and routine processing of quantitative image-based analyses on FFPE multiplex stained tissue samples, and coordinate data analysis with computational biologists and other team members. The candidate will be assisting image analysts and providing support for imaging-based assays within clinical translational research studies by staining, curating images, performing tests with supervision, collecting or generating metadata, and preparing tables or graphs for reports. Candidates should have familiarity or experience with biological imaging or imaging data, and a strong interest in cancer immunology. The accepted candidate will be expected to perform work carefully and efficiently, be organized with attention to detail, and able to generate clear documentation.
Function/Duties of Position
Staining multiplex IHC antibody panels on FFPE slides
Image and data curation, data cleaning and tracking of projects through the mIHC workflow
Maintain rigorous quality control standards, keeping careful record and working closely with other scientists to coordinate complex experiments and troubleshooting.
Assist in creating presentations by identifying key information and images to include
Work independently within established guidelines, use good judgment in making decisions, communicate and work effectively as part of a team. Work and interact with a variety of scientists and staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's in relevant field AND 1 year of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience.
Experience or strong interest in biological imaging, antibody staining, microscopy, or cancer immunology.
Organizational skills, MS Office competency.
Ability to communicate effectively, relay issues and troubleshoot, problem solving abilities, and high attention to detail.
Interest in immunology/cancer research and reading relevant literature.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) with 3 years+ of relevant experience in scientific research lab.
Experience with IHC antibody staining, histopathology, brightfield microscopy, digital pathology, or cancer imaging related field.
Knowledgeable in advanced image analysis techniques such as image registration, segmentation, and color deconvolution.
Knowledgeable in cancer immunology.
Proactive problem solver that takes initiative.
