Installs, maintains, adjusts, and repairs equipment in an industrial environment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Performs preventive maintenance tasks that cannot be assigned to operators.

Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors, manufacturing engineers or other maintenance works to diagnose problems or repair machinery.

Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired mechanical and electrical parts.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.

Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers, electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.

Lays out assembly, installs and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.

Works with Facilities Manager, manufacturing engineering and supervisors to ensure operations are performed in a safe manner.

Assists manufacturing engineering in improving the process and quality of existing or new equipment. Takes part in the pre-acceptance and acceptance of new machinery.

Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.

Sets up and operates machine tools such as the lathe, grinder, drill and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools.

Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

Must be flexible to work any shift, overtime and weekends as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Associate’s Degree (AA) from a two-year college, university or technical school or two to three years related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical procedure manuals or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers. Ability to read metric drawings, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams and PLC ladder programs.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to stand; move around the plant; handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear. The associate is occasionally required to walk, climb, balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job in the production area, the associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.

The noise level in the production area is usually loud.

Temperatures vary between room temperature and 120° in the production area.
