Responsibilities

Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site.

Assembles boxes to contain products.

Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on coils, or other containers.

Conveys materials and tools from storage or work sites to designated area.

Counts, weighs, and records number of parts in containers and pounds on coil.

Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.

Loads and unloads materials and tools onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and with fork truck.

Loads materials into vehicles for shipments.

May be required to work off shifts as needed.

May work in other areas of either plant based on production requirements.

Opens containers.

Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.

Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination.

Requirements

Must be able to obtain a forklift license.

High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.

Language:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, use whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. They must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

Work Environment The work environment is typically loud. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, occasional outside weather conditions, and noise levels that are usually loud.
