Maintenance Technician I

Position Summary Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and electrical systems in the facility. Responsibilities include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, diagnosing equipment problems, disassembling and repairing equipment, maintaining pipe systems, inspecting construction progress, and providing custodial support. Work is guided by Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer‑driven innovation, and a win‑first culture while meeting company financial and performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities
Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment; perform routine preventive maintenance.
Diagnose equipment problems with production workers or management.
Dismantle defective machines and install new or repaired parts.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other machinery components.
Lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and associated equipment.
Monitor maintenance activity progress to ensure compliance with the maintenance plan.
Inspect construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to specifications.
Respond courteously to inquiries and resolve complaints efficiently.
Repair hand‑tool equipment and fabricate/repair wooden structures.
Conduct interior painting, minor plumbing, minor building repairs, and custodial duties as needed.
Recommend repairs and upgrades after facility inspections.
Maintain buildings and facilities; perform plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering work.
Manage spare part inventory.
Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
Forklift operator’s license required.
Driver’s license required.
Journeyman’s card desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of TPM principles and practices.
Proficient with inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, multimeters).
Blueprint and schematic reading.
Knowledge of HVAC systems.
Understanding of manufacturing equipment.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and strong data entry skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
