The Village of Fox Crossing is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker position assigned to the Street Department. This position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled public works construction and maintenance related tasks, such as concrete, asphalt construction or maintenance work which aid in the upkeep and maintenance of Village of Fox Crossing vehicles and equipment, streets, roads, signs, storm sewers and drainage systems.

Responsibilities

Installs, maintains and repairs traffic signs and guardrails.

Maintains and repairs village roads including asphalt patching, shouldering, concrete work repair of curb & gutter and roadways panels.

Assists in cleaning, construction, repairing and maintaining catch basins, streets, sidewalks, ditches, curb & gutters and storm sewers and storm water ponds.

Operates a variety of light and heavy equipment, such as graders, tractor backhoe, tractor mower, end loaders, street sweepers, jetter, brush chipper and dump trucks with or without trailers.

Assists with maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment.

Performs curb side leaf pick-up, operates leaf vacuum equipment and manually rakes off leaves from terrace and ditch line areas.

Performs snow plowing and ice removal operations according to snow & ice policies.

Operates dump truck in hauling of dirt, brush, spreading of gravel or other materials as directed.

Maintenance of village buildings and properties.

Mows grass in terrace areas in village right of ways and village properties, trims bushes and trees, cuts brush and weeds.

Performs landscape maintenance activities, mows and trims in street medians.

May perform metal fabrication and repairs such as welding or cutting operations.

Reports to work as scheduled.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains on-call availability for snow & ice removal, storm damages and other emergencies.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, with two (2) years of related labor/trades experience (i.e. concrete, asphalt construction or maintenance); or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.

Valid Wisconsin Driver License – regular Class D and good driving record

Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver License – Class A, B with air brake endorsement, tractor-trailer endorsement; or the ability to obtain a Class A tractor-trailer endorsement within six (6) months of hire.

Ability to work in confined space
