Job Summary The Proposal Manager will lead the firm’s end‑to‑end proposal, RFP, and pitch process; oversee the firm’s experiential database and matter content; and elevate the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of proposal deliverables across the firm.
Responsibilities
Proposal Management and Strategy
– Manage firmwide RFPs, RFIs, panel appointments, and client pitch processes; lead go/no‑go assessments; ensure on‑time, on‑brand, and fully compliant submissions; drive efficient workflows for the proposal team.
Content Development and Writing
– Develop executive summaries, refine practice narratives, translate complex legal experience into clear, outcome‑oriented content; edit for clarity, tone, and consistency; enforce brand, style, and plain‑language standards.
Experiential Database and Knowledge Management
– Manage and enhance the experiential database; oversee data entry, ensure content is current and searchable; partner with attorneys to capture new matters; oversee libraries for core content, differentiators, bios, pro bono impact, and firm policies.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
– Collaborate with the Director of Business Development, practice leaders, pricing/legal project managers, design/communications teams; facilitate kickoff and review meetings; coordinate graphics, formatting, and digital submission; present pricing and service delivery models.
Act as a member of the Business Development Management team and fill in for Business Development Managers when needed.
Supervision Reports to the Director of Business Development and supervises the Business Development Coordinator.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or writing‑focused discipline preferred.
2+ years of proposal management experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
Exemplary writing and editing skills; ability to translate legal capabilities into client‑centered value propositions.
Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines and drive accountability across teams.
Experience building and maintaining experiential databases and content libraries.
Familiarity with proposal management systems, CRM, experience management platforms, proposal automation tools; proficiency with Microsoft 365 and Adobe Acrobat; working knowledge of design and formatting best practices.
Understanding of pricing, AFAs, and legal operations considerations preferred.
High EQ, professional presence, and confidence facilitating partner‑level engagements.
Meticulous attention to detail, excellent judgment, and commitment to confidentiality and information security.
Working Conditions Position requires sitting for long periods while operating a computer; may require exceeding normal work schedule; employees must be mobile, able to bend, and lift files weighing 10–15 lbs.
