Family Social Worker – Head Start – Fayetteville, NC Closing Date:

Overview of Responsibilities

Recruit, enroll, and support low-income families for Head Start programs.

Conduct needs assessments, develop Family Partnership Agreements, and provide resource referrals.

Coordinate home and community visits, monitor attendance, and maintain accurate records.

Provide crisis intervention and facilitate referrals for families in crisis.

Engage in collaboration with families, educational staff, community partners, and leadership.

Essential Functions

Needs Assessment & Planning – identify strengths and develop individualized FPAs.

Community Resource Linkage – connect families to health, dental, and social services.

Family Engagement – build trusting relationships for active participation.

Home and Community Visits – provide support and assess progress.

Attendance Monitoring – support families in improving attendance.

Record-Keeping & Data Management – maintain confidential case notes and program data.

Crisis Intervention – immediate support and referrals for safety concerns.

Collaboration – maintain communication with families and partners.

Recruitment & Enrollment – identify and enroll eligible families.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).

Experience:

1-2 years with low‑income children and families or equivalent education/experience.

Licenses & Certifications:

Valid driver’s license, first aid/CPR certification.

Skills:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel, strong communication, ability to work with diverse populations.

Languages:

Spanish a plus.

Background:

Criminal background check and ongoing CBC letter.

Conditions of Employment
