The Walt Disney Company . We are seeking a Multiplatform Editor to manage our daily news report, including homepage presentation, SEO improvement, and copy editing across platforms.
This role requires a journalist with strong news judgment, excellent headline‑writing abilities and a keen sense of audience, SEO, and design. The ideal candidate has mastery of style and grammar, can write headlines for alerts and different platforms, and works directly in our CMS to update headlines, meta descriptions, internal linking and optimize articles for search.
Responsibilities
Edit multiple text stories daily, ensuring accuracy, grammar, search optimization, appropriateness and style.
Attend regular meetings with editorial leaders to plan coverage and publish schedules for the website and social‑media postings.
Check and improve SEO on individual stories, keep abreast of changes in search results, Google and SEO.
Update the homepage to reflect newest and most relevant content.
Fact‑check stories for accuracy and edit text and scripts for social and video projects.
Move stories efficiently through levels of editing, review final drafts before publishing.
Occasional work on weekends and evenings.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years paid copy‑editing experience in digital publishing.
Experience editing for social media audiences.
Flexibility to collaborate with editors and reporters on East and West coasts.
Willingness to work nights and weekends on occasion.
Preferred Qualifications
Comfort editing both long‑form editorial and shorter social media copy.
Experience with a work‑management platform like Smartsheet.
Proficiency with analytics tools such as Chartbeat, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Taboola, CrowdTangle and Datamine.
Requirements
Cover letter.
Comfort and familiarity with Black culture.
Education
High school diploma (required).
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred).
Compensation: $68,500 – $105,700 per year (Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY) plus benefits and potential bonuses. Base pay varies by region and experience.
Seniority Level: Mid‑Senior Level.
Employment Type: Full‑time.
