FSRI is always looking for candidates that want to make a positive impact on the community. Position: TEACHING ASSISTANT, EARLY CHILDHOOD. Dynamic treatment program for children seeks an experienced, certified teaching assistant to work with students ages 5-7 in a self-contained classroom as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team. This 225-day, full-time position includes benefits. Responsibilities
Assist teachers in daily instruction of students Management of classroom grades, scores, student information, etc. Participation in IEP preparation and creation Educational/behavioral data collection as required Behavior management, crisis intervention Participation in multidisciplinary treatment team Other duties as assigned Qualifications
General qualifications of Teacher Assistants (Rhode Island statute text) Be of good character as verified by the employer Hold a high school diploma or GED or demonstrate literacy skills necessary to work with teachers and students For any person hired after January 1, 1999, complete a training program in compliance with the Teacher Assistant program standards The training program shall not be required for certain exceptions noted in the original posting For those employed as a Teaching Assistant prior to January 1, 1999, an Associate’s degree in Human Services, Education, or similar field is required Experience with ED/BD children and children with autism Physical Requirements
Travel to and from clients’ residence, community locations and office site Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to communicate effectively Equal Opportunity and Benefits
