We are looking for a Safety Coordinator to join the SR 400 Express Lanes project, a $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative in Georgia that adds 16 miles of express lanes and bus rapid transit stations. The project will bring a peak workforce of over 500 and is expected to be substantially completed in 2031.
The Safety Coordinator will ensure a safe and healthy workplace by providing inspections, evaluations, training, and technical support. The ideal candidate is passionate about safety, proactive in identifying risks, and committed to building a strong safety culture.
Responsibilities
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify compliance with OSHA, GDOT, and project‑specific safety management plans. Support daily risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety meetings across the project segments. Assist in safety orientations and refresher training for employees, subcontractors, and visitors. Conduct incident and near‑miss reporting, investigations, and corrective action tracking. Maintain accurate safety documentation and reports using the safety management software. Provide technical guidance on hazard recognition, safe work practices, PPE usage, and emergency preparedness. Promote and reinforce organizational safety values and expectations at all times. Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. OSHA 30‑Hour Construction Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months). Minimum of 3 years’ safety or construction experience (for Specialist II) or 7 + years’ experience (for Specialist III). Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, hazards, and regulatory requirements. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence teams. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfort with digital safety reporting systems. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related engineering field. Professional safety certification (CHST, STS, ASP, or CSP). Experience supporting large DOT or heavy civil projects. Familiarity with MUTCD traffic control safety requirements and GDOT Technical Provisions.
