Emerald Bay Golf Club | Bullard, Texas Position Overview Emerald Bay Golf Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the development, management, and maintenance of our premier golf course. This hands‑on leader will ensure exceptional playing conditions for members and guests by delivering superior turf quality and environmental stewardship. The Superintendent will manage all day-to-day operations of the golf course and report directly to the General Manager.
This is a highly visible role, requiring collaboration with the Golf Professional, General Manager, and Golf Committee to ensure the continued excellence of our facility.
Key Responsibilities
Direct, supervise, and lead the golf course maintenance team.
Plan and implement maintenance programs for greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers.
Oversee the planting, care, and cultural practices for turfgrass, trees, and ornamental landscaping.
Oversee and collaborate with mechanics in maintaining equipment and coordinating repairs in the maintenance facility.
Manage irrigation systems and work closely with the Emerald Bay Municipal Utilities District (MUD) on pump operations and reclaimed water disbursement.
Maintain cleanliness and functionality of on-course restrooms and MUD pump house facilities.
Regularly inspect the course to ensure maintenance and safety standards are upheld.
Track and maintain records of maintenance activities and equipment usage.
Procure necessary supplies and materials within approved budgets.
Recommend course closures based on maintenance needs or inclement weather.
Prepare and manage the annual maintenance operating and capital budgets.
Hire, train, supervise, and, when necessary, discipline golf course personnel.
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the maintenance department.
Work collaboratively with the General Manager and Golf Professional to align maintenance with club goals.
Interact regularly with members and club committees to communicate maintenance plans and updates.
Property Oversight Includes
The golf course, practice facilities, playground, athletic courts, and the Point
Maintenance equipment and facility
Irrigation systems and pump stations
Club and HOA-owned open spaces, wooded areas, and peripheral grounds
Other club-owned infrastructure (e.g., restrooms, cart paths, bridges, service roads, ponds, etc.)
Degree or certification in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turf Management, or related field preferred.
Demonstrated experience in all phases of golf course maintenance and turfgrass culture.
Strong agronomic background and knowledge of warm‑season turfgrass.
Working knowledge of irrigation systems (including wells, pumps, and automatic controls).
Thorough understanding of pesticide usage and current licensing.
Knowledge of equipment maintenance, drainage, and water management systems.
Experience with budget preparation and cost control.
Familiarity with golf course architecture and construction principles.
Bilingual communication skills (especially Spanish) are a plus.
Positive, professional demeanor with strong communication and leadership skills.
Passion for the game of golf and the ability to engage with members and staff in a friendly, visible manner.
