IT Desktop Support (Mobile Device Management) – Mobile Device Management (MDM) Systems Administrator
Location:
Crownsville, MD (On‑site with limited telework flexibility)
Position Overview 4A Consulting is seeking an experienced Mobile Device Management (MDM) Systems Administrator to support the Maryland Department of Information Technology (DoIT). The role focuses on the administration, maintenance, and expansion of the State’s enterprise MDM platform, primarily Microsoft Intune. The ideal candidate has deep hands‑on experience managing iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS devices in a large enterprise environment and is comfortable working in a collaborative, service‑oriented government setting.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and support the State’s enterprise MDM platform, primarily Microsoft Intune
Configure, deploy, and manage mobile devices and applications across iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS
Develop and maintain Intune policies for security, compliance, and application management
Monitor platform health, performance, and compliance metrics
Support integration with Azure AD, Active Directory, Office 365, VPN, certificates, and enterprise security tools
Implement and enforce mobile security controls including encryption, MFA, DLP, and device hardening
Support audits and compliance efforts in coordination with cybersecurity teams
Respond to mobile device security incidents and implement corrective actions
Ensure devices comply with State IT security policies and standards
Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for MDM‑related issues
Resolve assigned ServiceNow tickets in accordance with established SLAs/SLOs
Document configurations, procedures, and support actions
Deliver training and guidance to IT staff and end users
Collaborate with identity management, cybersecurity, asset management, and end‑user services teams
Support MDM projects including new deployments, expansions, migrations, and upgrades
Research emerging MDM and endpoint technologies and recommend improvements
Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and instructional materials
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands‑on experience with enterprise MDM platforms such as Microsoft Intune, VMware Workspace ONE, MobileIron, Google MDM, or Citrix Endpoint Management
3+ years of experience supporting large‑scale enterprise mobile environments
Experience integrating MDM platforms with Active Directory, Azure AD, Office 365, and third‑party security tools
Experience supporting iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS devices
Technical Skills
Microsoft Intune administration
Azure AD and Active Directory integration
Endpoint security and compliance management
Scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred; Bash or Python acceptable)
Networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, Wi‑Fi, certificates)
Education
Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
Bachelor’s degree may substitute for required experience
Additional relevant experience may substitute for education
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (Intune)
Microsoft Azure Administrator or Security Engineer certification
Experience integrating OneDrive with Intune
Prior experience supporting government or public‑sector clients
Work Environment
On‑site work in Crownsville, MD
Limited telework may be permitted
Occasional after‑hours or on‑call support may be required
