Core Research Associate II – Shared Research Resources As a Core Research Associate II in the Transgenic and Genome Editing Core, you will be responsible for creating, validating, and cryopreserving genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs). Your tasks will include preparing gene‑editing reagents, producing and manipulating embryos, implanting embryos, providing post‑operative care, genotyping, breeding, and collaborating with the Center for Comparative Medicine and Surgery (CCMS) for husbandry support. Experience with mouse handling is preferred, and you will receive training in new techniques.

Responsibilities

Produce mouse embryos via superovulation or natural breeding.

Collect and manipulate pre‑implantation mouse embryos.

Surgically transfer embryos into pseudopregnant mice and provide post‑operative care.

Manage mouse colony through routine monitoring, production of pseudopregnant females, breeding, tagging/biopsy, weaning, and animal transfer.

Genotype mouse tissues using PCR, sequencing, and other molecular biology techniques.

Assist in preparation and validation of genome‑editing reagents.

Cryopreserve mouse sperm and/or embryos and manage the cryo‑storage database.

Coordinate import and export of frozen samples.

Produce mouse embryos via in‑vitro fertilization (IVF) for line recovery/importation or genome‑editing.

Assist in testing and implementation of new technologies.

Occasional weekend work may be required.

Perform other related duties as needed.

Ensure rigorous compliance with safety and regulatory requirements while performing assigned tasks.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Three years of related experience (or Master’s degree plus one year of related experience).

Compensation Statement The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $58,824.00 – $88,236.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and operational need. The stated range does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
