Responsibilities:

Independently design, optimize, and execute experiments relevant to the mechanisms and therapeutics of SMA, SMARD, and/or CMT, including molecular and cellular techniques such as motor neuron cultures, primary cells; DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and molecular cloning.

Manage and perform experiments on relevant mouse or other animal models (e.g., phenotyping, behavioral testing, drug administration, survival studies, surgery, and tissue collection).

Apply advanced techniques such as AAV gene therapy and assessment of various therapeutics on neuromuscular phenotypes; utilize state‑of‑the‑art methods like single‑cell/spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, or advanced microscopy (e.g., confocal, live‑cell imaging).

Maintain meticulous, up‑to‑date records of all experimental design, procedures, and results in a lab notebook.

Rigorously analyze complex datasets using appropriate statistical and bioinformatics tools.

Lead the writing and revision of manuscripts for submission to high‑impact, peer‑reviewed scientific journals.

Prepare and present research findings at weekly lab meetings, departmental seminars, and national/international scientific conferences related to neuromuscular diseases or neuroscience.

Contribute to or lead the preparation of grant proposals (e.g., fellowship applications, foundation grants) to secure independent or collaborative funding.

Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in neurobiology, molecular genetics, or a related field.

Candidates will be evaluated on previous experience with animal models or neurodegeneration disease.

Anticipated Hiring Range: $55,000‑$65,000 based upon experience.
