Job Summary This posting is for a full-time Research Specialist who will work on neuroimaging research data. The successful candidate will work with the principal investigators and other members of the research team at the University of Michigan.

Responsibilities
Transfer, organize, conduct quality control, process, and analyze neuroimaging data (80%)
Other duties associated with study requirements (15%)
Training on PEERRS, HIPAA, and other training as necessary for the position (50%)
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a computer science, neuroscience or related field
Minimum 1 year of experience in a related field.
Strong computer management and programming skills.
Proficiency with MATLAB and Unix/Linux programming is required with demonstrated ability to understand computer programming languages and write simple scripts and functions.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience with brain imaging, particularly magnetic resonance imaging and/or brain imaging data analysis software (SPM, AFNI, etc).
Strong programming skills (shell scripting, VBA, SQL, Python).
Experience in data management using SPSS and Access and/or other database management tools. Knowledge of relational database design is desired.
Interpersonal and communication skills are very important for this position.
Work Schedule This is a full time, Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM position.
Modes of Work Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.
Additional Information This will be a 1-year, term-limited appointment with the possibility of extension. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
Background Screening Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
