GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join our Process Development within our Vector team to focus on development of high productivity and robust vector manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate must be a strong team player and have an ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams. A strong affinity for the laboratory with demonstrated success using those techniques is expected. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently plan, design, execute experiments to assess the in‑vitro functions of Vector development Develop and optimise processes and strategies for the manufacture of retroviral and lentiviral vectors Screen and determine best conditions for purification of viral vectors using tangential flow filtration and chromatography methods Characterise processing steps for yield and clearance of impurities Work closely with Project Managers to facilitate the development of tech transfer of viral vector processes Assist in the maintenance of a laboratory environment suitable for the manufacture of sterile biopharmaceutical products Prepare internal training manual and conduct periodic assessments Participate in meetings & internal team discussions Work off‑shift and extra hours as required KEY SKILLS NEEDED
Demonstrated ability in presenting scientific results Excellent oral and written communication skills Good understanding of cell biology, virology/vector production, and biochemistry Good understanding of chromatography using AKTA instruments Hands‑on experience with viral vector and/or protein concentration (tangential flow filtration) and purification (chromatography) methods A team player who can work efficiently as an individual MANDATROY SKILLS
More than 5 years of experience in academic research / biopharmaceutical industry Excellent aseptic/sterile techniques and prior experience with cell culture and upstream process Familiar with a range of purification techniques, such as chromatography and TFF PERSONNEL SKILLS
The candidate must be able to work collectively in a team‑spirit dedicated to attaining the highest standards of science and medicine. Candidate should be able to work with a global team across US/India time zones; handle cultural differences; multitask; be results‑oriented; experienced in working at a small biotech start‑up environment; demonstrate good communication skills; maintain high integrity; and be able to deliver results based on milestones. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Minimum a BS degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or exposure to molecular and cell biology technologies. EXPERIENCE
5‑7 years post‑graduate experience in vector biology and immunology. Extensive hands‑on experience in cell culture and upstream. COMPENSATION
