HSE Specialist Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics – Grand Prairie, TX

As an HSE Specialist at Safran Electronics & Defense Avionics, you will be a driving force behind our commitment to workplace health, safety, and environmental excellence. You will play a key role in implementing, monitoring, and improving the HSE Management System for Grand Prairie, TX site. Your expertise and proactive approach will help maintain compliance with legal requirements and ensure a culture focused on accident prevention and environmental protection.

Essential Job Functions

Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations, conducting regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.

Safety Program Management: Implement proactive measures such as hazard communication, injury/illness prevention programs (IIPP), and emergency response plans.

Accident Investigations: Lead investigations into workplace incidents and accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Fire Life Safety Program: Oversee the inspection and maintenance of the firefighting system to ensure facilities are in good condition and meet local code requirements.

Emergency Response Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency response situations, coordinating evacuations, drills, and ensuring readiness for unforeseen events.

Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all health and safety incidents, training, inspections, and compliance activities; prepare and submit required regulatory reports to federal and state agencies.

Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs covering emergency procedures, PPE usage, hazardous materials handling, and ergonomic practices.

Continuous Improvement: Work closely with leadership to continuously improve protocols, enhancing the overall safety culture.

General: Interact with police, fire, city and other government authorities for inspections and develop program plans for critical programs.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field – or equivalent professional experience.

5+ years in an HSE role, preferably in manufacturing, electronics, or industrial environments.

OSHA certification required; additional certifications such as ISO 14001 auditor, environmental compliance, hazardous materials are a plus.

Leadership, Management & Personal Skills

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local regulations.

Familiarity with risk assessment, incident investigation, root cause analysis.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HSE management software preferred.

Behavioral Skills:

Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.

Analytical thinking, attention to detail, effective problem‑solving.

Proactive, collaborative, adaptable to a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment.

Physical & Travel Requirements

Work in both office and manufacturing/field environments.

Occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds and work at heights when required.

Available for on‑call HSE support.

Potential travel up to 10% to locations including Irvine, Calexico, Redmond, and Mexicali.
