The Senior Environmental Engineer will provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability for two aluminum extrusion, anodizing and painting facilities. This role is responsible for managing regulatory programs, permits, and initiatives related to air, water, wastewater, hazardous materials, and waste management. The Senior Environmental Engineer will partner with operations, maintenance, and corporate teams to implement best practices, optimize environmental performance, and support continuous improvement in alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements. This position is ideal for a hands‑on professional with a passion for building programs from the ground up. As a key contributor to the Operations Environmental team, it offers a unique opportunity to shape an environmental compliance program while growing your career with a recognized industry leader. Job responsibilities include
Environmental Compliance & Program Leadership
Manage federal, state, and local environmental permits (wastewater, air, hazardous waste, stormwater, SPCC). Prepare and submit regulatory reports (TRI/Form R, Tier II, SMRs, Biennial HW Reports). Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies. Oversee wastewater treatment systems and hazardous waste operations. Ensure air emissions compliance and chemical storage safety. Maintain environmental management systems and lead spill prevention efforts. Lead team‑based Design of Experiment (DOE) projects, structured problem‑solving exercises, process failure mode & effects analysis (PFMEAs), action plan development and implementation, and other improvement opportunities. Provide technical guidance and training on environmental practices. Support process reviews and Management of Change (MOC). Lead sustainability initiatives (e.g., water reuse, VOC reduction). Act as subject matter expert for environmental compliance. What We Are Looking For
Education : Bachelor’s in Environmental or Chemical Engineering; Master’s preferred. Experience : 7+ years in environmental engineering, including 3+ in industrial operations. Regulatory Knowledge : Proficient in RCRA, CWA, CAA, EPCRA, and state regulations. Technical Expertise : Wastewater treatment, air emissions, hazardous waste management. Certifications : PE preferred. Office and industrial settings; occasional exposure to chemical processes. Must be able to wear required PPE (respirator, safety glasses, chemical‑resistant gloves, etc.). What OBE Offers You
