SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Housekeeper will provide cleaning services for the entire building and backup maintenance functions. GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assembles cleaning materials and supplies from the supply room and transports to the designated housekeeping closets. Cleans assigned areas by washing furnishings and equipment and mopping floors with special cleaning solutions and disinfectants to prevent the spread of disease. Spot clean carpeting and upholstered furniture as needed. Clean patient waiting areas by rearranging seating, straightening up nooks and magazines, vacuuming carpeted floors. Uses damp, disinfectant treated cloths and vacuum cleaner to dust window sills, blinds, floors, furniture and equipment. Scour and polish sinks, mirrors, chrome finishes and similar equipment. Replenishes supplies of soaps, towels and other dispensable items. Reports any mechanical failures or negative conditions observed to the Facilities Manager. Washes walls, windows, light fixtures and vents using water and cleaning solutions. Empty and disposal of trash to designated area, washes wastebaskets and relines with plastic liners. Maybe be called upon to wash outside windows, removal of snow, distribution of incoming supplies and assist with moving heavy equipment or furniture. Performs other duties as needed. REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent. EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of previous experience, preferably in a health care/hospital setting. Must know how to use common housecleaning implements, such as mops, floor waxes, buffers, and scouring pads. Physical effort required by the job includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting. Know how to care for equipment, measure cleaning solutions, and be alert to hazardous materials. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
