We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at‑risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning chemical dependency counseling programs and coordinate the delivery of counseling services to offenders with histories of chemical use, abuse, or addiction.
Provide a comprehensive evaluation from a battery of valid measurement tools to assess the recovery needs and the re‑offense risk of offenders.
Participate in the Individual Treatment Plan based on the severity and characteristics of the offender as determined by the comprehensive assessment, review of collateral information, and the clinical interview.
Provide counseling and recovery skills training; participate in offender orientation, educational, and individual and process counseling groups in compliance with program standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Maintain a therapeutic community (TC) within the facility working closely with correctional staff to create a living environment that is peer‑driven.
Maintain offender records and other records regarding services provided including statistical feedback on evaluations, and compile data and submit reports and related documentation as appropriate.
At the conclusion of the program, develop an Individual Progress Summary for each offender on caseload reflecting evaluation results and comments about the offender’s level of participation and quality of completion in the SAFPF/IPTC programs.
Submit copy of the Individual Progress Summary to the Parole Division to be included in the Parole Case Summary.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Major coursework in Criminal Justice, a Behavioral Science, or a related field preferred. Four (4) years full‑time wage‑earning experience in substance abuse treatment required. Experience may be substituted as described: each year of experience beyond the required four may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours of accredited university coursework on a year‑for‑year basis.
Current licensure as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) or current valid Qualified Credentialed Counselor (QCC) identified by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
Therapeutic community environment experience preferred.
Experience in the supervision of employees preferred.
Must hold current CPR and first aid certifications.
Valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
