Agency Overview Healing Action Network, Inc. envisions a community free from exploitation. Our mission is to foster safety, healing, and recovery with survivors of trafficking & exploitation. We do this through community awareness, client advocacy, and a comprehensive array of services delivered across three core programs:
Holistic Safety We provide trauma recovery services that include intensive service management, trauma therapy, individual and group peer support services, drop‑in support center, and psychoeducation & trauma groups to adults who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation including, but not limited to, sex trafficking, prostitution, stripping, escorting, pornography, and survival sex.
Coalition Against Trafficking & Exploitation (CATE) CATE is a statewide coalition to prevent and respond to human trafficking and exploitation. Primary activities include workgroups, policy advocacy, research & data collection, and standards of care.
Volunteer Service Link Program is designed to build the capacity of our community partners, increase identification of human trafficking victims, develop efficient data collection methods, and develop a diverse pool of trafficking trained community members across Missouri. We connect volunteers to Missouri victim service organizations. Volunteers can choose from a variety of organizations across the state to gain skills, build relationships, and build a stronger safety net for survivors.
Position Overview Healing Action Network is seeking a detail‑oriented and strategic Advancement Specialist – Grants to lead the full lifecycle of grant acquisition—including research, letters of interest, and grant applications. This position will manage a comprehensive grants calendar, coordinate with staff across departments to gather necessary data and narratives, and assess the likelihood of funding for prospective opportunities. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Advancement Specialist – Grants will build and maintain a robust pipeline of current and future funders that supports Healing Action Network’s mission to foster safety, healing, and recovery with survivors of trafficking and exploitation. This role is ideal for a strong writer and organized project manager who enjoys turning complex program work into clear, compelling proposals. Grant reporting, compliance tracking, and outcome data collection are supported by the Quality Assurance and Program teams, allowing this role to focus primarily on securing new and renewed grant funding.

Have excellent written communication skills and can tailor messaging to different audiences
Are highly organized and able to manage multiple deadlines, calendars, and projects at once
Have strong attention to detail and comfort working with budgets, data, and outcomes
Can work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with CRM or grants management tools is a plus
Are familiar with or interested in learning about funding trends related to trafficking and exploitation, housing, mental health, and survivor services
Familiarity and experience working with national, government, and St. Louis & Missouri funders.
What You’ll Do Grant Research and Strategy
Proactively research and identify funding opportunities from foundation, corporate, government, and other institutional sources that align with Healing Action Network’s mission and programs
Review guidelines, priorities, and eligibility criteria to determine organizational fit
Evaluate the fit and competitiveness of funding opportunities and recommend viable prospects to the Director of Advancement
Maintain a forward‑looking pipeline of funding prospects, tracking deadlines for LOIs, proposals, and renewals
Stay informed about trends in philanthropy and funding for trafficking and exploitation, housing, mental health, and survivor services
Work closely with program and finance staff to gather accurate data, narratives, and budgets needed for grant submissions
Ensure timely submission of all grant materials, managing internal deadlines in collaboration with the Advancement Director
Grant Proposal Development and Submission
Lead grant proposal development and submission—preparing and organizing materials for proposals, and submitting and monitoring grant applications
Drafting proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives, and budgets, and collaborating to finalize them with Advancement, program staff, Finance staff, and the Executive Director
Submitting grant applications in accordance with funder requirements and internal timelines
Support the Director of Advancement in preparing materials for funder meetings and site visits.
Grant Calendars, Files, & Internal Coordination
Maintain a comprehensive master calendar of grants and prospects (LOIs, proposals, renewals) and all associated deadlines
Maintain all associated files and correspondence in an organized and accessible manner
Document, upload, and maintain all grant files, correspondence, and supporting materials in Healing Action Network’s online grant management system, Grantseeker
Maintain a library of grant support documents, including resumes, bios, IRS forms, Board/staff diversity lists, organizational documents, and other commonly requested attachments
Develop internal timelines and task lists for each opportunity and communicate expectations to relevant staff
Coordinate with QA staff to track grant reporting deadlines to ensure proposals align with expected deliverables.
Coordinate with Advancement and Program staff to gather information for timely proposal submissions and ensure internal deadlines are met.
Funder Communication & Narrative Support
Coordinate with the Advancement Director to support the creation of narrative content for funder updates, donor communications, or program summaries
Maintain and update a library of supporting materials commonly required for grant submissions and funder engagement, such as organizational overviews, staff bios,
Board lists, and key achievements
Collaborate with QA and Program staff to ensure proposed grant deliverables are realistic and measurable based on current data systems
Remain aware of grant reporting requirements to inform proposal development and ensure accurate framing of deliverables
Documentation, Data and Tracking
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of all grant activity, including research, submissions, awards, declinations, reports, and communications
Use internal tracking systems (e.g., shared spreadsheets, CRM, or grants management software) to record deadlines, status updates, award amounts, and internal notes
Organize and maintain digital files for all grant‑related documents in alignment with agency procedures
Assist in tracking key grant metrics (e.g., submission outcomes, award totals) to inform internal review and decision‑making by Advancement leadership.
Collaboration and Strategic Input
Coordinate with Advancement and program staff to align grant efforts with agency priorities and funding goals
Participate in development meetings to support long‑term fundraising planning and strategy
Assist with the creation of content for fundraising appeals, annual reports, and donor updates, as needed
Other Duties
Provide grant‑related content for donor communications, annual reports, and fundraising appeals as requested
Support occasional special projects, events, or campaigns led by the Advancement team
Participate in team meetings, trainings, and organizational events as requested
Provide grant pipeline updates and metrics to support annual fundraising planning led by the Advancement Director.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all funding‑related communications and documentation
