About Us
The Electrical Contractors’ Association of the City of Chicago (ECA) is a long-standing construction trade association representing nearly 600 electrical contractors throughout Cook County, Illinois. As the Chicago and Cook County Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), ECA provides a wide range of business support and labor relations services to its member contractors. In close partnership with IBEW Local Union No. 134, the Association negotiates and administers labor agreements, supports comprehensive apprentice and journeyman training programs, and promotes the electrical construction industry on behalf of its members. Since 1903, ECA has been committed to strengthening the business environment for electrical contractors while investing in education, workforce development, and the long‑term success of future generations. Together, ECA and IBEW Local 134 work collaboratively to deliver a highly skilled, safe, and efficient electrical workforce serving the City of Chicago and Cook County.
Position Overview
The
Director of Member Services
is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the association’s meetings, conferences, and special events. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline‑driven environment. The ideal candidate will be proactive, professional, and comfortable working with senior leadership, board members, contractors, and union partners.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate all aspects of association meetings, training programs, and special events, from concept through execution.
Manage event logistics including venue selection, vendor negotiations, A/V, catering, transportation, and room setup.
Develop and maintain event timelines, run‑of‑show documents, registration processes, and attendee communications.
Maintain the Chapter’s social media accounts and promote events and seminars thereon.
Support committee meetings, including preparing materials, scheduling, and minute‑taking as needed.
Assist with budgeting, tracking expenses, and ensuring events stay within approved financial parameters.
Maintain event data, attendance records, and post‑event reporting.
Collaborate with communications staff on event promotion, email outreach, website updates, and marketing materials.
Provide onsite support at meetings and events (some early morning, evening, or weekend hours required).
Build and maintain positive relationships with member contractors, union representatives, speakers, and vendors.
Assist with recruitment of new contractor members.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, hospitality, business administration, or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
2+ years of experience in event planning, meeting coordination, or association/nonprofit administration.
Familiarity with the construction industry or labor‑management environments a plus.
Strong project management, organizational, and multitasking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with event software (e.g., Eventbrite, Cvent) is a plus.
Ability to lift event materials (up to 25 lbs.) and to travel locally & nationally for events.
In‑person schedule with office located in Westchester, IL.
Evenings and overnight travel required.
Collaborative, mission‑driven team environment.
Salary range of $85,000 - $110,000, commensurate with experience, as well as a benefits package including employer‑paid health insurance and defined benefit pension, paid time off, vehicle stipend, and professional development opportunities.
