Kforce has a client in Cypress, CA that is partnering with a client in Cypress, CA to find a Staff Firmware Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team developing high-reliability physical access control systems. This role focuses on embedded systems, communications drivers, and network protocols. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and enhance real-time embedded system features
Create communication protocol drivers for embedded and third-party systems
Improve network communication mechanisms
Port software to new hardware/software platforms
Design and implement development/test tools
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (BSEE/BSCS)
3-15 years of experience in C/C programming, embedded Linux, and RTOS
Strong knowledge of distributed systems and network protocols
Familiarity with Visual Studio, Eclipse, and GNU toolset
Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills
Experience with customizing device trees especially for Senior Firmware Engineers

Ability to effectively communicate in the English language verbally and in writing
Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.
Proficient in MS Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, etc.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Occasional domestic/international travel for integration and problem-solving
Must be able to work onsite in Long Beach, CA when needed
Preferred Qualifications: Professional experience in Linux embedded development Knowledge of the GNU toolset Experience with RTOS and high-reliability platforms C, C , TCP/IP, UDP, RS232, RS-485, SSL, TLS, XML, HTML, JSON, Web Services/REST, Containerization, and Virtual Machines Linux embedded development Experience with high-reliability platforms and RTOS Knowledge of protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, UDP, RS232, RS-485, SSL/TLS, XML, HTML, JSON, REST, containerization, VMs The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range.
