Data Governance and Metadata Analyst
with a strong
business analysis and insurance background
to join our dynamic
Data Strategy team —a group dedicated to transforming how data is managed and leveraged across the organization.
Work Location Hybrid role based in
Farmington, CT , with in-office collaboration every Wednesday. For exceptional candidates, we also offer a fully remote arrangement anywhere in the U.S., with a strong preference for those located on the East Coast.
What You’ll Do
Operationalize Data Governance: Embed best practices into project workflows and everyday work.
Consult on Projects: Partner with cross-functional project teams to ensure alignment with enterprise data governance standards.
Support Governance Technologies: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of platforms such as Data Catalog (e.g., Collibra, Alation), Master/Reference Data Management (MDM/RDM), and Data Quality tools.
Drive Metadata Excellence: Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain accurate and accessible metadata across systems.
Enable Reference Data Standardization: Provide data and business analysis support to harmonize reference data across the enterprise.
Job Responsibilities
Partner with project teams; provide guidance on data standards, policies, and best practices; review deliverables for compliance.
Support rollout and adoption of governance processes across business units.
Assist in the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Data Catalog, MDM/RDM, and Data Quality platforms.
Collaborate with data stewards to capture and maintain metadata; ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Conduct data analysis to support reference data harmonization; identify inconsistencies and gaps; define and implement standard reference data values.
Engage stakeholders; facilitate communication between data governance, IT, and business teams; promote tools and practices adoption.
Required Skills
Metadata Management: Knowledge of metadata concepts and data cataloging.
Data Governance Tools: Experience with MDM/RDM, data quality, and governance workflows.
Business Analysis: Translate business requirements into metadata for tools and initiatives.
Data Analysis: Analyze datasets for inconsistencies, gaps, and standardization opportunities.
SQL or Querying Skills: Basic to intermediate querying ability.
Data Modeling: Understanding of data structures, relationships, and reference data domains.
Governance & Compliance: Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations.
Data Governance Frameworks: Familiarity with principles and best practices.
MDM/RDM Management: Principles and best practices.
Data Quality Management: Define and monitor data quality rules and metrics.
Tool Proficiency: Collibra, Informatica Axon, Alation, Informatica Data Quality, Talend, PowerBI, Office 365, Confluence, Visio, Lucid.
Detail‑Oriented, Problem‑Solving, Adaptability.
Education / Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
Minimum 2 years experience in Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Quality, MDM, and Data Stewardship.
Minimum 5 years experience applying technical and business skills to data analysis and metadata; 5 years in Insurance/Reinsurance industry.
Experience with cloud‑based applications, system testing, and IT security principles.
