About the Role As a Tax Manager, you will play a key leadership role within the firm, overseeing tax engagements while acting as a strategic advisor to both clients and internal teams.

You’ll be responsible for managing tax compliance and planning engagements end‑to‑end, ensuring adherence to IRS and California state tax regulations, identifying planning opportunities, and mentoring staff to uphold the firm’s standards for quality and consistency.

What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

Managing and reviewing federal and California state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and estates.

Ensuring compliance with IRS, FTB, and other relevant regulatory requirements.

Overseeing tax deadlines and managing multiple client engagements simultaneously.

Providing proactive tax planning, advisory, and risk mitigation support.

Serving as the primary point of contact for complex client tax matters.

Reviewing work prepared by staff and seniors to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Monitoring tax law changes and advising clients and leadership on impacts.

Driving process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce rework.

Collaborating with firm leadership on tax strategy, staffing, and capacity planning.

Qualifications

Active CPA license (required)

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

10+ years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting or CPA firm

Demonstrated experience managing and reviewing federal and state tax returns

Strong working knowledge of IRS regulations and California state tax law

Experience managing multiple deadlines in a seasonal, deadline‑driven environment

Proven ability to review work, identify issues, and ensure technical accuracy

Salary Range:

$100,000 to $125,000 USD annually
