Summary About the Position: This position is located in the Family Medicine Department, Directorate of Medicine, Naval Health Clinic Oak Harbor (NHCOH). This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Medical malpractice liability insurance is not required for federal civilian healthcare providers as they are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment.

Location: Oak Harbor, WA (Remote job), Telework not eligible, No travel required; occasional travel may be expected. Relocation expenses reimbursed.

Duties

Independently formulate full treatment plans based on sound evaluation and diagnoses consistent with current and/or evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

Diagnose illnesses and prescribe and administer healthcare treatment plans for people suffering from injury or disease.

Coordinate with facility and community resources to provide multi‑disciplinary comprehensive care to all patients.

Perform emergency services or crisis intervention, including life‑saving emergency procedures when necessary.

Promote preventative and health maintenance care, stresses positive health behaviors and self‑care through education and counseling.

Serve as a member of the professional medical staff and provides advisory and consultative services on various meetings, committees, conferences, and/or boards.

Requirements (Conditions of employment)

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre‑employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re‑verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

A pre‑placement medical examination is required.

Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.

Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

Applicants must be able to fulfill non‑privileged professional credential requirements.

Qualifications Who May Apply:

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; transcripts will be required if qualified based on education.

Basic Requirements for Physician (Family Practice)

Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian school accredited by recognized accrediting bodies. A foreign MD must have evidence of equivalency via ECFMG or other recognized certification.

Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.

Graduate training: At least one year of supervised clinical service (internship or first year of residency).

Residency: Successful completion of accredited residency training in Family Medicine or equivalent experience equal to at least four years.

If you are selected for a Physician position, a salary quote will not be provided at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process begins after the initial offer is accepted. Base pay and market pay will be added by the Activity Compensation Panel.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre‑Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

One year trial/probationary period may be required.

Direct deposit of pay is required.
