Maintenance Technician

to join our team! The primary focus of the person in this role is to maintain facilities, process equipment, and support systems within the Cherokee plant to ensure safe and reliable operations.

What you will be doing: (1st shift) Principal responsibilities:

Maintain plant equipment and facilities to support 24X7 manufacturing operations.

Train and lead individuals on all routine maintenance activities (including maintenance scheduling [SAP PM], spare parts inventory control, process shutdowns/turnarounds, and production staff interaction) with only occasional management/engineering support.

Periodic reporting of overall plant equipment performance and maintenance group performance using industry recognized metrics (e.g. equipment availability, life cycle analysis).

Root cause analysis and continuous improvement approach to maintenance practices, supporting long term improved system/process performance.

Manage and maintain all contractor activities on site for the purpose of plant maintenance.

Monitor and ensure high standards of performance of contractors hired to perform work that exceeds the capabilities or expertise of the maintenance team at the plant. Ensure that all internal Linde safety requirements are adhered to by the contractors.

Interact with laboratory and operations staff to ensure processes are executed with maintainable designs.

Facilitate the safe performance of work through participation in systems of work such as management of change (MOC) and Hazardous Work Permits/Permit to work (HWP/PTW).

Peer positions: Production Supervisor, SHEQ Coordinator

External contacts: Vendors, contractors

Internal partners: Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Manager, Electronics SAP PM team, Electronics Engineering.

What makes you great: Required key skills (functional/technical)

Repair of mechanical equipment including compressors, pumps, valves, process piping systems, process equipment, instrumentation, and gas sensors

Proficiency with a variety of basic hand and power tools is required.

Willingness to safely work at heights and within confined spaces is required.

The candidate must a have proven record of organization and completing lean projects.

Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office if required.

A Maintenance Supervisor/Lead must have demonstrated expertise (and certification where applicable) in three or more of the following areas:

Abatement system control and maintenance

Rotating equipment repair and maintenance

Preferred: High purity orbital welding/tube fitting

HVAC repair and maintenance

Electrical equipment maintenance

Predictive/preventive maintenance techniques and documentation with Computerized Maintenance Management System (e.g. SAP PM)

Experience in a chemical manufacturing facility and an understanding of chemical process systems and basic chemistry is a significant plus

Experience in a GMP manufacturing environment

Required qualifications/experience

A Maintenance Technician requires a high school diploma plus depth of experience to support a worldclass chemical manufacturing facility, typically 5-7+ years of experience.

Internal candidates should be fully qualified as a Maintenance Technician III. Preferred to include 5 years of relevant experience.

The individual must have demonstrated experience and ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain two of the following: mechanical systems, electrical systems, and gas/fluid/hydraulic systems.

The individual must be capable of routinely lifting a minimum of 35 lbs

This role requires access to information and products subject to U.S. export control laws (ITAR/EAR). Consistent with those laws, candidates must meet the definition of a "U.S. person"—i.e., a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), or an individual granted protected status (such as refugee or asylee) under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).
