Ironworker (Non-Union) – Full-Time Industry:
Structural Steel / Steel Erection / Construction
Location:
Chattanooga, TN
About The Role In this position, you’ll work hands‑on assembling and installing structural steel components, reading blueprints, and ensuring all work aligns with project plans and safety standards. The ideal candidate has proven ironworking experience, strong physical capability, and the ability to work efficiently in fast‑paced field environments.
Key Responsibilities
Erect, install, and connect steel columns, beams, joists, and decking
Perform bolt‑up, welding, or other securement per project specifications
Use cranes, hoists, hand tools, and power tools to position steel components
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and erection plans
Work safely at elevated heights with proper fall protection
Rig and guide materials during lifts, communicating clearly with crane operators
Perform layout, measurement, cutting, drilling, and prep work for installation
Install metal decking, stairs, handrails, and miscellaneous steel items
Follow company safety protocols and OSHA regulations
Collaborate with crew members to meet production goals and deadlines
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Qualifications
Previous experience as an Ironworker or Steel Erector (required)
Ability to work safely at heights up to and above 100 feet
Strong understanding of steel erection, assembly, and rigging practices
Ability to read blueprints and follow instructions
Experience with torches, welders, grinders, and ironworking tools (preferred)
Physically capable of lifting 50–100 lbs, climbing, bending, and working outdoors
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Welding certifications a plus
