Summary Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs preventive maintenance and repairs for plant mobile equipment to maintain smooth operation. Maintains inventory of equipment parts and supplies. Complies with all applicable safety policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

Inspect plant mobile equipment for proper operation and perform preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.

Perform routine repairs on plant mobile equipment: tune engines, repair electrical systems, brakes, airflow systems, hydraulic systems, drive lines, and change tires.

Assist in preventive maintenance and ensure appropriate fuel levels and lubrication of plant locomotive, firefighting equipment, and front‑end loaders.

Maintain mobile equipment shop cleanliness and perform job cleanup.

Order mobile equipment parts and supplies as needed.

Investigate sources and initiate solutions to correct problems if fugitive dust is generated.

Perform and/or schedule maintenance service as needed.

Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent; preferred.

Training on continuous emission monitor equipment preferred.

Knowledgeable of MSHA rules and regulations.

Two years related job experience in maintenance and repair of mobile equipment.

Knowledge and ability to perform preventive maintenance and repair on plant mobile equipment; knowledge of mechanics and electronics associated with heavy mobile equipment.

Ability and qualification to operate plant mobile equipment including trucks, dump trucks, cranes, bobcat, various sizes of heavy capacity loaders, forklift, and other related heavy equipment safely.

Ability to perform grinding, cutting, welding and other general mechanical repair activities.

Ability to read, write and understand warning labels, instructions, signs, etc.

Must be available to work overtime and odd hours when needed to perform emergency repairs or maintenance on mobile equipment.

Knowledge and understanding of plant mechanical operations; skills include analytical, problem solving, detail orientation, and written and verbal communication skills.

Work requires walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, working in awkward positions, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds.

Valid driver’s license.

Positive attitude and ability to work with others.

Work Environment Work will be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoors throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet and all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
