Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Lihue, HI.

Compensation
Hourly Pay: $34.12 per hour
Sign‑on Bonus: $3,000 (split $1,500 at 30 days, $1,500 at 90 days)
Tool Box Incentive: $300 yearly allowance
Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE certification up to $700
Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 each quarter
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Weekends OFF
Hours: First Shift 9:00 am – 5:30 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or Technical Certification or Post‑secondary degree preferred
Basic tools required
Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance, basic diagnostics, AC and electrical systems
Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred
Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
All other required certifications for the location
Minimum of 2 years experience with heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment repairs and diagnostics
Computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse, etc.)
Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass RIDER drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor‑vehicle check (including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including preventive and complex mechanical and electronic repairs using diagnostic computers where applicable
Complete detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision
Replace defective components as instructed
Work unsupervised on most tasks
Perform facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine complaint nature when assigned tasks
Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation
Comply with all federal, provincial, and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
Mentor Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
Support operations duties as required (e.g., Service Island support)
Complete SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT220)
Complete 2 OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days (fleet mix predominant OEM)
