Mortgage Loan Officer
Regions Bank is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Officer to direct the origination of residential mortgage loans and build strong relationships with borrowers, referral partners, and other stakeholders. The role is commission-based and offers total compensation ranging from $20,000 to $100,000+ per year, depending on performance.
Primary Responsibilities
Completes mortgage applications for submission to the loan processing and underwriting departments.
Evaluates loan requests, analyzes financial data, and determines qualification of collateral and customer credit history.
Maintains contact with loan customers, communicating progress and obtaining required documentation.
Structures loans to comply with acceptable lending practices and federal regulations.
Establishes a detailed marketing/business plan, including potential and existing loan customers such as realtors, builders, developers, and others, and the frequency of contact.
Answers customer calls and walk‑in customers, discusses loan products and qualification information.
Makes sales calls to potential or existing customers in accordance with Regions marketing plan to develop new business or retain existing business.
Cross‑sells other bank products and services.
Reviews surveys and appraisals, taking necessary steps to correct encroachments and violations.
Participates in networking through professional, business and community organizations to promote and market loan products.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
One (1) year of mortgage lending experience with proven mortgage production.
Abundant experience in developing external business via referral partners, including but not limited to realtors, builders, and financial planners.
Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) required. Refer to https://fedregistry.nationwidelicensingsystem.org for more information.
Preferred Experience
Bachelor's degree.
Prior Mortgage Loan Officer experience.
Mortgage Loan Officers with a minimum of $1M per month average proven production volume.
Current mortgage origination experience.
Skills and Competencies
Good organizational skills.
In-depth knowledge of mortgage products, systems, terminology, tax requirements, and down‑payment assistance programs.
Understanding of agency and investor regulations and guidelines.
Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships to deliver high service levels.
Strong sales acumen and ability to multi‑task competing priorities, meeting tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
