Mercury Systems is seeking a hard‑working, innovative Mechanical Engineering Co‑Op to join our mechanical engineering team. This role offers a hands‑on opportunity to design, analyze, and test complex PCB assemblies, including advanced cooling solutions that leverage the latest thermal and mechanical technologies. You’ll bring fresh ideas to challenging design problems while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team. Job Responsibilities
Supporting mechanical design of electronic module assemblies based on open standards Contributing to mechanical packaging design, PCB layout and ECAD support, connector selection, cable and label design Creating 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks Supporting prototype inspection, assembly, and documentation required for hardware procurement and build Collaborating daily with Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Procurement teams Supporting product verification testing including thermal, airflow, vibration, mechanical shock, humidity, and environmental stress screening Designing fixtures to support testing and advanced manufacturing techniques Assisting with failure analysis in coordination with manufacturing and application engineering Driving procurement of prototype materials to verify form, fit, and function Drafting test plans, inspection reports, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs/ECOs) Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline A minimum GPA of 3.1 is required. You will be asked to submit your transcripts during the review process Basic understanding of heat transfer and thermal management principles General knowledge of conventional and advanced manufacturing techniques, including additive manufacturing Experience with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks Strong organizational skills with clear verbal and written communication abilities Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation tools Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment Government Security Clearance
