Distribution Tool Maintenance Mechanic
Location: CNG - CT - East Hartford - Meadow St
Hourly Rate Range: $44.06 - $52.07
Job Summary Connecticut Natural Gas – East Hartford division is looking to hire a self-starter and motivated Distribution Tool Maintenance Mechanic to assist in safe installation, operations and maintenance of its natural gas mains and services. With a minimum direct supervision, Distribution Tool Maintenance Mechanic services, repairs, and maintains distribution department tools and equipment. Additionally, the Distribution Tool Maintenance Mechanic keeps maintenance records and inventory of tools and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Services, maintains, and repairs CNG East Hartford - Gas Maintenance & Operations Department tools and equipment with a minimum direct assistance or supervision (Performs minor repairs as required).
Maintains inventory and maintenance records of all Distribution Department tools and equipment.
Works with and assists management in training distribution personnel in the proper use of tools and equipment.
Facilitates the delivery of tools and equipment to field crews and company contractors as required.
Responsible for the maintenance of the Mueller (tapping, stopping, purging, etc.) and similar equipment, directs and assists in the field with pipeline drill-outs, stop-offs including troubleshooting/maintenance as required.
Contacts vendors to collect pricing, scheduling repairs, and ordering equipment or materials that are essential in the natural gas operation.
Perform calibrations of leak detection and other electronic equipment, i.e. CGIs, analyzers, gas monitors, pipe locators, box locators, etc.
Performs and facilitates other related work as required (i.e. Transporting fleet to Greenwich garage, help building Operator Qualification test props, performs minor repair on excavators, backhoes etc.,)
Takes initiative to organize, clean and maintain the CNG East Hartford equipment & material yard.
Takes initiative to organize, clean and maintain the CNG East Hartford tool room.
Assist supervision with distributing the work of one or more helpers.
Perform other related work as required.
Perform the above in accordance with safety practices of the company.
Required Qualifications
Must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively, and demonstrate skills in basic mathematics and analytics.
Must be able to use a computer and required company software and applications (MS Outlook, MS Excel (basic), MS Teams etc.)
Must be able to use blueprints, schematics and technical manuals, and follow oral and written instructions.
Must have a good degree of mechanical aptitude and ability to learn basic electrical skills.
Must be able to make accurate simple arithmetic calculations, read mechanical drawings, and keep accurate records.
Must have knowledge of the distribution system and understand the construction and operation of distribution equipment and tools.
Must be able to obtain all relevant Operator Qualifications (OQs) to perform listed duties within 6 months of hire.
Must be physically able to perform the required duties.
Must be able to learn to use testing equipment and tools properly.
Must possess Connecticut MVD and CDL (Class A or B) driver's license with a good driving record.
Self-starter and initiator. Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
This position requires a medical certification exam and will require passing a respirator medical qualification test.
