Mobile Building Engineer
Job Description Summary
Supports the Assistant and/or Chief Engineer and Sr. Facilities Manager in day‑to‑day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment on behalf of the client. Responsibilities include accurate and timely routine operation, inspection, maintenance, and repairs of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems. Goal is to obtain most efficient operating results and life expectancy, ensuring energy‑efficient and safe maintenance while minimizing downtime.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; trade school/apprenticeship preferred.
Experience: Minimum 4 years in building engineering with strong HVAC, electrical, and plumbing background.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid state driver’s license
Universal EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerants
Additional trade licenses as required (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Steam Engineer)
Responsibilities Ensure ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work orders for facility mechanical, electrical, lighting, and other installed systems and components.
Maintain, operate, and repair HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution systems, plumbing, building interior/exterior, and related grounds for assigned client buildings.
Perform major HVAC repairs (compressor, condenser, evaporator coil replacements) and major plumbing repairs (domestic water piping, steam traps, sewage lines, bathroom fixtures).
Conduct electrical repairs, including conduit installation, cable pulling, panel and motor maintenance, and predictive testing using a megger.
Complete facility inspections and due diligence reporting on conditions impacting client occupancy and operations.
Operate, maintain, and repair: Boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and steam/water distribution lines
Refrigeration systems and controls (compressors, condensers, evaporators, valves)
Water systems, filters, softeners, piping, and pumps
Air compressors and distribution systems
Electrical motors and engines powering pumps, compressors, and fans
Building automation systems for HVAC
Sanitary sewer systems, sump pumps, and trash compactors
Kitchen equipment (excluding tenant-owned)
Maintain elevators except where serviced by specialized contractors.
Recommend improvements to preventive maintenance programs.
Maintain inventory control and comply with all codes, regulations, and company directives.
Stay familiar with building systems, including automation and fire/life safety.
Submit monthly reports to management on building operations.
Follow all safety procedures, maintain housekeeping, and use proper PPE.
Respond effectively to emergencies; light travel may be required.
Maintain all required Federal, State, and Local licenses.
Complete annual safety training and comply with uniform dress code.
General Maintenance Repairs on toilets, soap dispensers, registers, radiators
Lamp replacement and light fixture cleaning
Ceiling tile removal, minor furniture and floor repairs
Door hardware maintenance, Venetian blinds, and floor equipment repairs
Painting in equipment rooms and cooling towers
HVAC filter replacement and mechanical space cleaning
Fire extinguisher replacement and miscellaneous handyman tasks
Additional Requirements Assigned company vehicle: ensure maintenance, registration, insurance, inspections, and expense reporting through C&W vendor systems.
May require work in Controlled Environmental Vaults (CEVs) with strict safety compliance.
Perform other operational tasks typical of the Mobile Engineer role.
Benefits and Compensation
Compensation will be $28.93 – $34.04 per hour. The company will not pay less than minimum wage.
