Phlebotomist II Float – Berkeley, CA

Shift and Location

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, rotational weekends.

Pay

Hourly rate: $26.35 – $30.66. Salary based on experience, education, certifications, and organizational factors. Eligible for annual performance bonus.

Key Requirements

  • State phlebotomy license is required (Quest does not accept NHA licenses in CA, WA, NV).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • Three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Minimum two years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboard/data entry experience.
  • Strong English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assign a territory to cover phlebotomy duties within a Patient Service Center, doctor's office, or as business needs dictate.
  • Draw quality blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for lab testing.
  • Collect specimens according to established procedures, including drug screens, biometric screening, and insurance exams.
  • Enter billing information and collect payment when required.
  • Coach, mentor, instruct, and act as a resource advisor for new employees; serve as point of contact to staff on site and provide regular input to the group lead or supervisor.
  • Travel to additional doctor’s office or Patient Service Center sites when needed.
