Job Summary The Certified LPN at North Mississippi Health Services plays a vital role in providing a wide variety of nursing functions to support the medical plan of care, adhering to hospital/departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities include patient care, documentation, teaching, and performing IV therapy, ensuring age‑appropriate care and maintaining positive relations with patients, families, and medical staff. The LPN must possess problem‑solving skills to handle stressful situations and respond to changing patient needs effectively.
Patient Care
Provide nursing functions to support the medical plan of care in compliance with hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
Assist in maintaining patient records through daily nursing summaries, Medicare charting, acute care charting, and accurate medication administration records.
Contribute to nursing care plan development.
Provide patient/family teaching necessary for continuing care during and after discharge.
Perform IV therapy utilizing hospital guidelines.
Education
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent – Required.
Continuing education requirements as defined – Required.
Licenses and Certifications
LPN – Licensed Practical Nurse – State Licensure.
CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Maintain knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care.
Complete 24‑32 hours orientation MIS computer training.
Organize and prioritize work assignments.
Delegate assignments appropriately to nursing assistants.
Assist new employees in their orientation.
Project a positive image of the unit to all customers.
Maintain good working relationships with medical staff, unit personnel, and all ancillary departments.
Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
