Job Summary Battelle delivers when others can’t. Battelle Medical Products group is currently seeking a Purchasing / Inventory Control Coordinator located in Columbus, Ohio. This role supports medical device product development teams and requires managing multiple purchasing priorities, communicating between functions, and ensuring purchasing compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) and corporate guidelines.

Responsibilities

Provide project support to medical device product development teams.

Manage multiple purchasing priorities simultaneously and communicate between operations, procurement, accounts payable, suppliers, and quality.

Prepare purchase orders and coordinate with corporate procurement for timely execution.

Coordinate with Supplier Quality Management to verify supplier qualification before purchasing demand.

Ensure timely payment to suppliers by working with accounts payable to address any issues or constraints.

Perform P‑Card purchases.

Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.

Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries.

Track the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.

Communicate frequently with staff that have ordered materials and work with corporate receiving to ensure timely delivery of packages to staff members.

Collaborate with the Quality group to ensure Quality Controls are met on received items.

Ship materials to various vendors and clients.

Oversee the Inventory Room and kit out medical device components for controlled builds.

May participate in supplier management activities and/or distribution activities as bandwidth allows.

May assist with device testing activities as needed and as time allows.

Key Qualifications

High School diploma plus one year of related experience.

U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain clearance.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Able to work in an open, team environment.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Assertiveness to keep activities on track.

Courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with people.

Self‑initiative and ability to work independently with minimal guidance or direction.

Strong computer skills, including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing programs.

Demonstrated ability to set and manage own schedule and prioritize and organize work.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with procurement and interaction with suppliers.

Understanding of the FDA’s Quality System Regulation (QSR).

Experience with structured testing of devices or components.

Involvement in an ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 quality environment and experience with structured methodologies and processes for product development.
