Best Lending Co. is growing, and we’re looking for a motivated Junior Underwriter to join our fast-paced, tight knit team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in private lending and learn the full lifecycle of the loan in a family office style of operation. Our style of underwriting blends traditional processing tasks with investor-focused risk analysis — perfect for someone who’s detail-oriented, analytical, and ready to grow.
What You’ll Do
Collect, organize, and review borrower documentation (entity docs, credit, bank statements, etc.)
Evaluate collateral, including rehab budgets, appraisals/BPOs, and title work
Assist in assessing borrower experience, exit strategies, and overall deal strength
Prepare and stack complete loan files for senior underwriter review
Communicate with borrowers, brokers, and internal team members to obtain missing documents and clarify file details
Run and interpret credit/background checks
Ensure files meet company guidelines, investor requirements, and compliance standards
Update internal systems and track loan progress from submission to approval
Provide general support in pipeline management and operational efficiency
What We’re Looking For
1–2 years of experience in hard money, private lending, mortgage processing, or related real‑estate finance role (preferred but not required)
Strong analytical skills and ability to assess risk
High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Strong communication skills (via email & phone) with borrowers and brokers
Ability to work in a fast‑moving, deal‑driven environment
Comfortable with technology, LOS systems, Google Workspace/Slack
Willingness to learn underwriting principles and grow into a more senior underwriting role
