We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on
Assistant Controller
to join a dynamic and growing manufacturing organization in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. This is a fully onsite role for a driven accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and enjoys being closely connected to plant operations. The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing finance experience, including cost accounting, variance analysis, and margin reporting, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations and support the month‑end and quarter‑end close processes.
Prepare and analyze cost, variance, and margin reports to support operational decision‑making.
Develop and present timely and accurate financial statements and performance reports for plant and corporate leadership.
Partner with operations and plant management to identify opportunities for cost improvement and process efficiency.
Maintain and enhance internal controls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Participate in annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Support inventory valuation, standard cost updates, and product margin analysis.
Lead and mentor accounting team members, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong background in manufacturing environments.
Expertise in cost accounting, variance analysis, and margin reporting.
Experience with fast‑paced, quick close processes and operational reporting.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills with a hands‑on, plant‑focused approach.
Strong proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing accuracy with efficiency.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $100,000–$130,000, based on experience.
