Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist
We are seeking a dedicated
Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist
for our Kentwood, MI branch. The role involves reviewing credit risk, collecting delinquent accounts, and collaborating closely with Sales and Operations to coordinate collection activities. This position reports to the Credit Manager.
Location Kentwood, MI
Key Responsibilities
Review delinquent accounts and contact customers regarding overdue amounts.
Assess risk associated with new and ongoing credit accounts.
Negotiate settlements and issue demand letters.
Escalate accounts for legal action or write‑off when necessary.
Maintain clean, reconciled customer account balances.
Resolve conflicts between sales orientation and risk tolerance.
Collect for high activity accounts such as Fortune 100 companies.
Handle phone, email, and other communications with customers.
Resolve invoicing, cash application, and sales tax concerns.
Process new customer credit applications and account setups.
Process manual bank deposits.
Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain reliable attendance and arrive on time.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience posting and balancing daily cash.
Experience in a sales‑oriented dealership environment.
Ability to manage a credit portfolio over $2M.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and E‑Emphasys/Extend.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare reports and respond to stakeholders.
Basic mathematical skills including discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and elementary algebra.
Problem‑solving ability with limited standardization.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Regular use of hands, talk/hear, sit; occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
Frequently lift up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
