Patient Financial Counselor 1
Department: East | Precert and Financial Counseling – The Ohio State University Scope of Position
Interview and review uninsured or underinsured patients daily (inpatient, outpatient surgeries, observation). Obtain third‑party billing information and establish payment arrangements, including Medicaid, HCAP, or charity programs. Responsibilities
Verify coverage for Outpatient, Inpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Services. Provide financial counseling and recommend third‑party assistance programs. Recommend payment plans and assist patients or families with financial clearance. Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. At least 6 months experience in a healthcare setting, revenue cycle department, customer service, or financial counseling role with demonstrated success. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and computer/websites. Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to resolve conflicts independently and within a team. Detail oriented, highly organized, self‑motivated, and able to perform duties with a high level of accuracy. Additional Information
