Job Title: Directional Drill Locator – Underground Telecommunications
About The Role: We are seeking a skilled Directional Drill Locator to join our team in supporting the installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring safe and precise directional drilling operations by accurately locating existing utilities and guiding drill operators throughout the bore process.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain locating equipment to track drill head position and depth during directional drilling.
Interpret utility maps, plans, and job specifications to ensure compliance and safety.
Communicate effectively with drill operators and crew to maintain proper bore path and avoid conflicts with existing utilities.
Perform pre-job site inspections and verify utility locates.
Troubleshoot and resolve locating issues in the field.
Maintain accurate documentation of bore paths and as‑built records.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 1–2 years in directional drilling or underground utility locating preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with locating systems (e.g., DigiTrak, Subsite) and understanding of underground utility construction.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility maps.
Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Fremont, CA.
Pay And Benefits: The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
