Job Description Summary
Steam/Generator Senior Factory Commodity Sourcing Leader responsible for leading a team of commodity leaders across each factory in the ST/Gen supply chain. Collectively, the team supports execution of direct material supplier deliverables at each factory site. For non‑globally negotiated materials, the team manages all aspects of supplier performance—including cost, cash, lead‑time, capacity, delivery, and quality claims. For globally negotiated materials, the team serves as the site sourcing escalation point for supplier execution issues.
Essential Responsibilities
Lead the assigned non‑global commodities for the site to achieve variable cost productivity, cycle reduction and cash flow.
Lead the supplier selection, qualification, development, and overall supplier relationship, including managing the entire contract life cycle from request for proposal to supplier exit (for the commodities not covered by a global sourcing relationship).
Balance strategy development with the tactical execution necessary to execute cost reduction projects through contract negotiation, process changes, and implementation of sustainable cost controls, including collaboration with Finance to validate the impact of projects and contract negotiations to the general ledger.
Develop technical and market expertise to support the site spend.
Collaborate with other segments (such as Services/Projects) to ensure that adequate supplier capacity exists to support total demand.
Partner with engineering and supplier quality teams to identify and implement direct material productivity ideas to minimize total cost.
Work closely with engineering, commercial team, procurement team and supplier quality engineers to ensure fulfillment and quality requirements are achieved.
Align with logistics and commercial teams to ensure adequate regional capacities exist to minimize transportation costs and meet localization requirements.
Assess supplier capabilities, and measure and manage supplier performance.
Negotiate lowest possible cost while maintaining the highest quality of goods and services.
Lead NPI costing: from design through first unit delivery, leading RFQ, negotiations and supplier award (for commodities not covered by global contract).
Ensure global contracts are executed properly and market shares are followed.
Lead supplier negotiations regarding claims/recovery.
Actively support supplier fulfilment issue resolution as the first level of escalation from a commercial standpoint.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 7 years of commercial experience in sourcing, sales, commercial operations, and/or supply chain.
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA).
Prior sourcing experience in contract negotiation, identifying opportunities, selecting suppliers and implementing contracts.
Prior experience in developing a multi‑year commodity sourcing strategy.
Prior experience in leading negotiations with senior management levels in supplier organization.
Strong quantitative and data analysis skills.
Strong project management and process improvement skills.
Change agent with ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Process leadership experience such as CAP, Work‑Out, process improvement, or quality CPM or APICS certification.
Six Sigma training or equivalent quality training.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Compensation The base pay range for this position is $149,400.00 – $199,200.00 – $248,900.00 USD annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including candidate experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus of 15%.
