Responsibilities
Assist with the development of a QC team. Provide Training for inspectors in both Welding and Coating
Learn and understand Merrill’s Quality Manual and Procedures that are written to be in compliance with AISC 207-23 Standard for Certification and AISC 420-10 Complex Coating Standard.
Work with all departments involved with the AISC Certification. Perform Internal Audits for compliance
Daily Weld and Coating Inspection
Conduct Weld Performance tests
Monitor shop welding for compliance to Welding Procedure Specifications.
Track nonconforming materials and errors. Communicate with Production and Quality Management.
Issue Corrective Action when needed.
Always focusing on continuous improvement
Assist with customer third party inspections.
Be the Management Representative during AISC Initial and annual audits
Qualifications
Current certification with American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
Non Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications or experience in the Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT or MPT) methods
Any AMPP, NACE, or SSPC is a plus.
Structural Steel Welding and Inspection experience.
Any experience with the American Institute for Steel Construction (AISC)
Proficiency with shop drawings and a comprehensive understanding of weld detailing
