Job Overview
Diesel Service Mechanic – Manteno, IL 4224. Full‑time hourly position in the commercial heavy equipment industry. You will provide high‑quality service and maintenance to diesel equipment and vehicles, working on engines, trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Individual contributor reporting directly to the Service Manager.

Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel equipment and vehicles (engine tune‑ups, oil changes, brake repairs).
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues using diagnostic tools.
Complete repairs and replacements on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
Maintain accurate service records and reports.
Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues on repair progress and preventative maintenance.
Follow all safety procedures and protocols in the shop and on job sites.
Stay updated on industry advancements and changes in diesel technology.
Collaborate with other technicians and departments to ensure efficient service delivery.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic with strong knowledge of diesel engines and equipment.
Own tools and a valid driver's license.
Experience in the auto industry preferred.
Excellent troubleshooting, diagnostic skills, and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Willingness to work flexible hours, occasional overtime, and ability to lift heavy equipment and stand for extended periods.
Open to trade students and recent graduates.
