Position summary:
Responsible for engineering design by applying general engineering principles and practices to interpret project requirements, organize tasks, and execute and coordinate assignments effectively.

Compensation for this position is $40.00 - $60.00 hourly, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.
Essential functions and responsibilities:
Perform alternative studies to evaluate project options
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography and other topographical or geologic data for project planning
Perform design calculations and engineering analyses
Support project design using CAD and other design software, following client specifications and guidelines
Assist in preparing construction cost estimates
Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertising and construction
Collaborate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality standards
Nonessential functions and responsibilities:
Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program
0-5 years of experience in highway civil engineering or related field
Proficient in discipline specific design software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Written and oral communication skills
Qualifications preferred
Engineer-in-training certification or Professional Engineers License
NYSDOT, NYCDOT, PANYNJ, NJDOT, NJTA or other agency experience
Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
Working Conditions: Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25lbs) may be required as needed.
